The short version
ChairsideReviews is a dentist-authored product review site. Some of the product links on the Site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy the product, the retailer pays us a small commission, at no additional cost to you. This disclosure is required by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (16 C.F.R. Part 255), and we agree it is the right thing to do regardless of the rules.
The longer version
ChairsideReviews participates in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. We may also participate in other affiliate programs (for example, programs run by individual brands or affiliate networks such as ShareASale, CJ, Impact, or Rakuten) and may receive compensation when readers click links and make qualifying purchases through them.
Commission rates on the products we review typically fall in the 3–20% range, depending on the program and the product category. You pay the same price whether or not you use one of our links.
How affiliate commissions affect our editorial choices
They do not. The products we recommend are products Dr. Yoo personally uses or routinely recommends to patients at Karis Family Dental in Whittier, California. We pass on many higher-commission products because they fail our editorial standards. We also explicitly name products we do not recommend, even in categories where reader interest is high.
Specifically, we will not affiliate-link or recommend: direct-to-consumer mail-order clear aligners (Byte, Candid, AlignerCo, NewSmile, and the like); charcoal whitening powders and other fad cosmetic products without clinical evidence; oil-pulling products marketed as cavity cures; “tooth gum regrowth” products; or oral probiotics with unsupported clinical claims. How affiliate links are labeled
Pages and posts that contain affiliate links carry a visible disclosure near the top. Individual affiliate links are technically marked rel="sponsored nofollow" in keeping with FTC guidance and standard web publishing practice. A footer notice on every page of the Site reminds readers of the affiliate relationship.
Who pays us
Retailers and brands pay us through their affiliate programs. Readers do not pay us anything. We do not run paid display advertising on the Site at this time. We do not accept payment to feature a product positively, to omit critical coverage, or to alter our editorial conclusions. Free product samples, when accepted, are disclosed in the relevant post and do not entitle the sender to favorable coverage.
